As a change from running a Treasure Hunt - here is a great childrens game. Follow the links for other party games to entertain your kids:

Bears

This is a great game to break down any reserve, and get everyone in the party mood.

Put a nice sticky bun on a plate in the middle of the floor.

Ask the company to stand around the room in a circle, with a good space between each person. Do this with an air of mystery, so that they are wondering what comes next.

Then give each person a piece of paper on which is written the name of an animal. Make sure that the company know that they must keep this a secret.

Announce that you will call out the name of an animal, and the person allotted that animal must grab the bun and return to their place before I count to five.

Say “Ready”, shout “Bear”. The whole company will run to the middle to grab the bun. Of course you have given everyone a paper with the word Bear written on it.
