Still thinking about the Treasure Hunt party game: Here are some of the comments emailed to us about the amazing parties people have had using our treasure hunt planner system:
THPP
Had a great time with the treasure hunt, had a birthday party last night with 11 and 12 year olds, the treasure was a pot of goodies (St. Parick's Day theme). Your directions really helped. Planning to do it with our soccer team at our next travel tournament.
Denise Calloway, South Carolina USA
THANK YOU, NIKKI! We had our family Treasure Hunt this weekend as part of a birthday celebration. 12 of us in all. We had so much fun!!! I couldn’t have pulled this off without you. Big success. I highly recommend this.
Linda Lyle California USA
We didn't have our treasure hunt due to the weather, but we used all the adult games from the bonus ebook and everyone enjoyed them thank you so much,
Wanda Keener, Texas USA
It was a lot of fun. I was able to use 2 acres of land to do the games and made the treasure 2 blocks away in someone elses yard. It was so great. My son who is a little shy was the talk of the class on Monday with the kids saying it was the best party ever. Your program was exactly what I wanted. Someone to walk me through step by step. With 3 kids I don't have a lot of time to be creative and not a lot of money to have a birthday party out somewhere like Lazer tag or Chucky Cheese. If you ever come up with other parties let me know. I also gave out you web address to others.
Kim Carter, Virginia USA
Hello Nikki, Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our Easter Egg Hunt today. Followed your instructions and the children loved it.
I now have all sorts of ideas for future parties. Your ideas were simple, common sense, but I never would have thought of them. Well worth the $29.
Sue Ashworth, Buckinghamshire UK
Hi Nikki, I had the party on Thursday, it was great everyone loved the hunt, it was something different. Everyone can’t wait for the next hunt.
Naila al Moosawi USA
The treasure hunt party was great; my 16 year old son said it was an awesome party. All the kids came dressed in costume as well as the adults! The hunt took about 1.5 hours to complete. The clues lead to a compass and spade, the compass lead to a treasure map, and the map then lead to the treasure that was buried. When they dug up the chest it was wrapped in chains and locked, and a clue giving them a hint as to where they could find the key, which was hidden in another chest. Being a pirate party, there were several chests for them to look through, but it was in the cake which was shaped like a chest.
We served jerk chicken and shrimp before the hunt, they did the hunt, then ate cake, opened the chest, then played capture the flag in the dark (they had on glow stick necklaces). Everyone had a grand time!! Thanks for your ideas.
Teresa Arthur, Vancouver USA
Hi Nikki, my party was in Oakville, Ontario. I had it on April 9th and it was for my daughter's 8th birthday. The age range is 6-8 years old. I had some ideas about the party prior to getting your book, but your book was great to help bring all my ideas together. I modeled the game after yours but I changed a few things to be applicable for us. I didn't have a lot of time to put it together, but it only took a few hours to gather the necessary items and make the game. I loved making up the clues and the treasure map. We authenticated the map by burning it and staining it with tea, and it was very realistic.
The morning of the party I had everything ready to go early and I felt completely relaxed, which is not always the case prior to a party. The party was a resounding success. The kids absolutely loved the game. They had so much fun, and worked really well in teams. I buried the treasure in our front yard, so that was definitely the highlight for the group. They were chanting "dig, dig, dig" to the team who was digging to get the treasure up. Once it was found, they screamed with joy and excitement at what was in the tin.
Everyone had fun. No one was frustrated or felt they couldn't do the game.
So thank you for all your assistance. I will definitely do another treasure hunt again. In fact my 6 year old asked if she could have the same party next year. It was so much fun for the kids but also for the my husband and myself. We couldn't wait for the kids to get here so we could play the game.
Thanks again!
Susan Thomson, Ontario Canada
Hi Nikki, we had a great party. The games we played at the party was like Amazing Race. They had to play a game to get a clue. (They collect all seven clues and put it together to find the treasure). I made passport for everyone. We traveled around the world to all seven continents. They had different ways to travel around the world. (bike, Wheel bower, skates, etc.) When they collected all the clues they had to find the treasure box that was buried.
We had two teams. I know the kids loved it we had it before our spring break, and yesterday was the first day back and they were still talking about it.
Thanks for the help and ideas.
Shawna Bates, Georgia USA
All went VERY well.. I had about 30 children to do the hunt... They really liked it... It took a lot of thought and planning this first run but it will be a sinch the next time.... I made copies of the pages, cut, color coded, glued and laminated the different stations. I used fold down baskets for the stations... I just taped name to it... Sooo I can pack it all up and use it next year... THANKS it was lots of fun...
Nadine Draper, Ohio USA
Well everything came out a big hit. Everyone loved it. They thought it was real creative. Everyone had a real good time. It was 4 teams of 2. That way everyone really had to work together and no one was left out. Thanks again,
Tatyana Capdevila, Florida USA
Hi Nikki!, I just wanted to give you a report back on how the treasure hunt went. The kids had a ball! I got some really great ideas from your book about what to do at the ports. I have a request out to our family for people to send me any pictures they took. I'll send you one if I get a cute one.
Angelic Thompson, New Orleans USA
I'm a procrastinator and the party is tomorrow night!!! So no time to write much now - but, I'll try to let you know how it all went! I am loving the package and it is working out nicely - so far - so good! THANKS! And, thanks for having something IMMEDIATELY available for a procrastinator like me! It's for a group of freshman girls and I think it will be tons of fun! THANKS!
Lynne Allenspach, Montana USA
Hi Nikki, I must admit that I am not computer savy and rely mostly on my 16 year old son to get me out of most jams I find myself in :) I was able to access the treasure hunt and Easter bonus hunt (which was awesome by the way) As for the hunt, my family is big on these type of events and I have been doing some variety for years.
Your kit was awesome, it saved me countless hours on the planning end and everyone really had fun. We do this event each easter for my husband's family. There are 4 brothers and we divide them into teams for the hunt. This was by far the most organized and stress free event. We did find that at the end only having one team retrieve the treasure map was a problem as two teams solved the puzzle simultaneously.
This is a great service and I truly am grateful that I found your web site.
p.s. the egg challenge was by far the most entertaining.....
Susan Rossi Cook, Massachusetts USA
Hi Nikki, thank you very much for all the follow-up emails and also for making that customization website available. It's been REALLY EASY to plan with all your materials and the website.
My son's 7th birthday party was this past Saturday and ran the pirate-themed treasure hunt. The kids ranged in age from 3-8. It was great fun! The kids really enjoyed themselves and the parents seemed to enjoy watching the activities, too.
I followed your basic design, signs, and most of the games. We did the whole treasure hunt on our backyard lawn in a space of about 15 ft x 25 ft.
I really enjoyed planning this and running it, too. Your instructions were great and really easy to follow. I'm looking forward to planning another treasure hunt soon. As I mentioned earlier, all the kids had a great time and the parents really enjoyed watching the treasure hunt. I've already shared your Web site address with several parents. Thanks again,
Mary Anne Arcilla, California USA
Thank you for your email. Our party was yesterday and it was awesome! This was by far the best party we've had and required the least effort from myself (because you completed the work)! I had began to research pirate party ideas a month before I ran across your product and was sceptical about spending the money due to I had purchased another "kit" and was disappointed. I am so happy now we took a chance on your product; everyone was so impressed and the children had a blast!!!
PS- Your customer service is a very nice touch!! We really appreciate you!!!!
Flora Parker, Georgia USA
Nikki, I got the Treasure Hunt for my Church Group. We meet once a month for a Movie Night and on the night of the Treasure Hunt we were watching "National Treasure". I thought a treasure hunt would be fun to do before the movie and everyone had a great time! I didn't have a clue on how to have a treasure hunt, so I went to the web and found you. You did a great job of putting this game together and I will be able to use it for many more parties to come. I used some of your ideas and did few of my own and it turned out to be a huge success. Everyone is still talking about how much fun they had. We had our hunt all indoors on Friday night, April 7th. I will attach a few of the pictures from our "Treasure Hunt". Thanks for the help.

Thanks for your book....it was great. I really helped plan my children's party. They had a great time.....my husband created the map and we made up great clues. Will use it again for a family gig.

Hey Nikki.. just wanted to let you know... we had our "treasure hunt" this past weekend! What a hit it was!!! We had 16 participants aging in range from 12 to 50... everyone loved it and we all had a great time!! Thanks for everything!! I will certainly recommend the treasure hunt to one and all!!!

Dear Nikki,
We had our pirate treasure hunt game this week-end on our yacht club cruise. We did all the planning, purchasing the treasure and put it together in 3 days with very late nights, but it was a huge success.
Everyone had a great time. We have many more ideas for another hunt next year when we will have more time to plan.
Thank-you for all the great ideas and for all the flexibility to the game, it was easily adaptable to our space, weather and various abilities of our players. Our youngest player was 7 years old and our oldest was in their late 60's and they all enjoyed the challenges, puzzles and best of all finding the map and treasure.
Thanks again, Bev

Hi Nikki,
The treasure hunt that we conducted went excellent. The only suggestion that I have is some way to edit the game so if you dont have a lot of people to play or if you have enough but the people are elderly and may have a hard time doing some things like moving a cocnut with their nose or walking the plank with binoculars the wrong way... Some games are great for kids but some could have revisions so that it is open for all demographics to be able to play!
Regardless, everything went fantastic, my whole family had a great time whether they participated or not, it was great to see the whole family, young and old, get involved to play, laugh, and have a great time!
Thanks!

I used the Treasure Hunt Game ("The Great Hunt for Summer Vacation") for a group of 1st through 5th graders (about 80 kids) as part of our last day of school activities.
They had a great time. Several kids asked me if we'll be able to do it again next year. Some of the parent volunteers and teachers encouraged me to keep all the props and signs so we can use the game again. The teachers really enjoyed it...they got to be Camp Counselor at Camp, Lifeguard at the Pool, Swimmer at the Beach, Fisherman at the Fishin' Hole, Ranger at the Park, and Zookeeper at the Zoo.
I'm planning to use the game once again for a class party for my son this summer ... probably with a different theme.
It was easy to set up, and the challenge ideas were awesome.
Thanks!

Nikki,
We all had a great time on the Treasure Hunt. Memorial Day Weekend was all family and fourth of July will be all of our friends and their kids. We plan to do another treasure hunt then with some different challenges. (beer drinking, doughnut eating off a clothes line with no hands allowed and a few others). Planning it was as fun as being in it. It was a great time!
Thanks Again!

Hi Nikki
Many thanks for the great Treasure Hunt game planner and the supportive communications. I was asked to do a treasure hunt for a friend’s 40th and we went away to a beautiful country house for the weekend. The group included some very competitive men – so it was great to have a really strong, uncheatable structure for the treasure hunt as a basis!
We made it location specific by writing a clue for finding each station (secret location), where they had to find the clue for the next location… Everyone loved the tightrope walking – brilliant idea. The backwards english idea worked well – but we made it more difficult by jumbling up the words in each sentence and each word was an anagram too. We were in Wales, none of us were Welsh speakers, so it felt like they were having to interpret Welsh! We also did a ‘Countdown’ number game (7 numbers they had to use to make 100) which proved quite stretching and our favourite – the orange game – the team members have to pass the orange from one to another under their chins, with no hands and without dropping it. It was quite a good photo opportunity.
We gave it a bit of a Da Vinci Code feel – my husband was the Grand Master (wearing a very spooky Ku Klux type cone on his head, made out of newspaper with eye slits – and a smiley face as an attempt to soften the effect for the kids) and I was the Oracle, in a white sheet and with ‘eyes in the back of my head’ (two stuck on paper eyes, that I revealed dramatically in the introduction, as a warning).
I loved putting the treasure together – we found we had the most brilliant green and gold Belgian biscuit tin, with a shield on the front of it and scalloped sides (very romantic) and inside was all glittery – lined with gold tissue and choc full of sweet shop sweets – rainbow drops, mini footballs, jelly babies, smarties and gorgeous foil wrapped sweeties, all sprinkled with gold stars and curly sparkling gift tape. I had a field day in Woolworths – I included wrapped up pressies – which were just the most ridiculous latest types of candy, that I didn’t realize existed. A gobstopper painted to look like an eyeball. A pair of tongs that make jelly glow worms glow. And electrocuting, bitter sherbert strings.
Anyway – they loved it and said it was the best treasure hunt they had ever done. So I’m sure you’ll get some hits as a result.
Thanks again and good wishes for your business

Hi Nikki,
I found your sight during a google search.
I had two days to plan a hunt for my 9 year old son and 6 of his friends, as a last day of school treat.
Your sight really helped. I had to make some changes because I only had 7 kids, but it was a great time for all. The hunt and all the challenges took about 2 hours. I had a alot of fun putting it together too. Next time I will take more time planning.
The kids asked if we can do this next year for the last day of school.
They want to make it a yearly tradition.
Thanks.

Hi, Nikki,
I wanted to let you know that my son's birthday party was a huge success! If it wasn't for your package deal with pre-printed pages and instructions, there would have been no way I could have had the birthday party at all. I am in college and the only available day for my son's party was on a Friday after school. I had a final that I had to study for and take that morning, so it was a very tight schedule I had to work with! I had not done anything with the party except print out the manuals, made the cake the night before (not frosted yet) and I did order some party things ahead of time. Oriental Trading Post is a great place to order theme birthday packages with accessories. I had a great luck ordering a pirate theme package with lots of great accessories to put in my treasure chest. I started at noon planning each station and looking for things to do the challenges with, and by the time my son and his 9 junior high-age friends got to the house, I had each station planned, the cake frosted, and treasure chest hidden. The kids really enjoyed the challenges and had a choice of movies that were pirate themed: Goonies, Pirates of the Carribean, and National Treasure. The cake was a hit on pirate plates, and the birthday pack came with enough accessories that each kid could go home with some pirate accessories. Thank you so much for making my job easier and a great hit with the rest of the kids. You know, kids aren't as easily impressed these days, and my younger son is asking for this for his birthday. Thanks again, I'll check out your other add-ons for party ideas!

We did have fun. Unfortunately, several people didn't come and it would have been more fun had they been there. There was one adult and one child on each team and it was so cute to see the kids come wrapped as mummies.
One hyperactive child only came with partial shards of toilet paper since he couldn't stop moving. We weren't picky on how much of their body was covered. One little girl never moved and she came perfectly wrapped. I recommend a toilet paper like Scott, since the softer rolls fell apart too easily. I found out my adult niece couldn't spell backwards and she became very frustrated! I think everyone was surprised that it wasn't just a straightforward "here's the map, find the treasure" and they were very surprised to actually have to DIG for the treasure! I used a large tin wrapped in a plastic bag, but when the shovel hit, the bag broke and the tin lid got dented, so a little dirt got in, but not much. The trouble was they kept trying to pull it out before totally uncovering it. I'd like to know what better surprises to put in the treasure that makes everybody go ooh and aah. For the kids, what I had was OK, but what about the adults?

Well, we had the treasure hunt yesterday. It went really well, the children were so excited and had a fantastic time. I literally buried the treasure and it was lovely watching them dig, surrounded by the other 15 children.
My nephew and niece, my brother and sister, and of course my husband, were all helpers and they enjoyed it as much as the children. Needless to say, I was shattered last night after all the planning, preps and doing, but it was well worth it just to watch the childrens faces.
Many thanks for replying to my email, and for the ebook I purchased, I just don't know what to follow this with next year!

Hi Nikki,
Our treasure hunt at our spring campout went very well, even though we had to dodge a few thunderstorms. Our scout and parents really enjoyed it. It was different and it was fun. And we are here to have fun. And we do plan to use it again for our fall campout, which is in the planning stage now. That's in October. Made a couple of mistakes on the planning, but learned a lot from this event. Will be keeping in touch soon to see what options we have for our next event.

Nikki,
Just wanted to let you know that my son's birthday party went really well. I had a lot of fun putting it together and the boys enjoyed all the challenges and especially digging up the treasure! All the instructions and the question puzzle were a bit challenging for them even though I modified some of the questions (they were 8 year olds) but they had fun! I used your "matching items" game to pair up the boys before the treasure hunt started, which worked out well. Thanks for the ideas and putting it all out on "paper" for me. I will definitely use it for other parties.

Nikki: Thanks for your message. The party is tonight in Oceanside, NY for a group of 13 year olds. I purchased your book on Monday and have put together a Treasure Hunt using baseball terms although I don't consider the party to have a theme. I am using some of the suggestions for challenges in your book as well as having made up a few of my own. Your book was very clear and the instructions were all easy to undertand. The only trouble I have had is in planning time tables where each team is sent to a different location but what I came up with looks like it will work.
I am so glad I found your website!! I was going to attempt to put a Treasure Hunt together on my own and I was procrastinating over it as you may have figured out from the fact that I just ordered the book Monday!!!
Thanks, Lorraine Incontro

it was AWESOME! thanks so much, everyone loved it! only one thing i can think to suggest is that it was kinda hard explaining six challenges with only 3 people, but it was great, i loved it!

Hi Nikki,
Yes, I have finally had the time to download the Treasure Hunt Game with the Pirate Theme (Thank GOD that "Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest" has hit the movies this Summer!). All the amenities we need to support the theme is in all of the party stores everywhere in NY.
The Hunt if for an upcoming Annual Block Party that takes place in my town of West Babylon, NY, USA. We believe that the Hunt will be organized for approximately 45 - 50 youngsters (~ 5 - 6 children per Team @ 8 - 9 stations/houses).
We have even recruited the help of all the participating neighbors to act as Station Overseers to oversee and judge the puzzles and challenges! We figure why not get the whole lot of them involved right??......It's a PARTY and we're all there to have fun!
It is a rather large party, and we have ordered the Child version for ages 6 - 16. We have incorporated most of the puzzles and challenges that you have suggested in the "Pirate Theme package", only because we no imagination! (That's not really true....but there are so many other details to attend to, as our house alone is expecting ~ 100 persons throughout the day, and there are about 8 or 9 families participating on our block!).
We are very excited about how the Treasure Hunt will come out, but the Block Party Organizer seems to think it will be the "hit of the party"! Our neighbor's are going to HATE us! We don't have any children, and seem to come up with all the great ideas at this annual event.......with YOUR HELP this time of course! Thank you!
I will write back once we have played (8/12 or 13th) to provide you with some feedback on the outcome, or.....should I hit a mental block and need some suggestions I will contact you earlier! (ha-ha-ha)!
Thanks again for making this as simple as possible, and we look forward to a great event.
Most Sincerely,
Mike Boruch
Hi Niki,
Sorry about the delay in getting this back to you. The Treasure Hunt was a GREAT success, and everyone had a GREAT time at the annual Block Party! ALL the kids (and I mean all....there must have been at least 60 - 70 kids participating) had a great time, and I think the adults at each of the participating homes on the block did also! We did the Pirate theme and everyone seemed to enjoy all of the pirate flags...balloons, and the Pirate we had "hanging in the galley" of Pirate Beach (he was a bit scary for the real youngsters...but it definitely added to the effect we were trying to achieve.
We did have a bit of a snafu with the older kids who wanted to form their "own team" but....kids will be kids.....LOL what can ya do?!!
We had a huge Treasure Chest "buried" in our back yard filled with all sorts of toys, candy bags, faux jewelry, coins etc.... and the winning team all seemed to revel in the excitement.
We can't thank you enough for your help. The program really helped us to plan, and make the event as special as you had described. Thanks for all of the pointers along the way, and we look forward to possibly hosting this event at our next Block Party!
All our best and many thanks again for providing such an innovative and helpful tool to make the party a huge success. Agrrrrr Matey!
All our Best!

Hi!

Hi Nikki -- I'm finally getting around to answering your emails! We finally completed our Treasure Hunt last week! We had so much fun -- thank you for the great kick-start!!!
I ordered your Treasure Hunt software package way back in February, 2006.
Your software was just what I needed to get started, get me thinking about what I wanted to do -- and it was GREAT fun! Everyone, from kids to adults, had a great time! For me, it was like Christmas, having chosen wonderful presents for all -- and watching everyone Ooooh and Aaaah. My participants had a ball! Of course, now that everyone had so much fun, next year I have to come up with a game for EVERYONE -- the grownups want to play, too!!!
Ah, the challenge!
We had great fun!

We had the party I used the treasure hunt party planner as a guide. I only had one team and had the girls work together. I set up six challenges (using your ideas as guides) the challenges were building a tower out of cups, building a pyramid out of people, writing a birthday limerick, singing a song, perform a play/skit and scramble puzzle. the girls had a great time and worked together.
thanks

The party was this past Sunday, and everything went well. I used the Pirate theme pak - the instructions were simple and easy to follow. The party was a success.
The only problem I had was in trying to use the "customization tool" - this did not work at all. There were no instructions - I clicked on the link that was emailed to me when I purchased the product (I had purchased the main kit for $29.99 and the pirate theme pak for $9.99 on August 4th - so I was entitled to the free customization tool) but nothing happened. Unfortunately, I purchased the treasure hunt game Friday evening - I read through the two set of booklets Friday evening and made some notes about customization - then I went out on Saturday and purchased the necessary products and props - scoped out the area for places to set up all of the stations and the locations to hide the treasures. By the time I got back on the computer to do the customization of the timetables, etc. (since I was only doing two teams), it was late Saturday evening. The party was on Sunday morning.
As previously stated, the customization link did not work. I emailed you, but did not expect you to be checking email at around midnight on a Saturday night. So I had no choice but to type all of the Timetables,
instructions, etc. from scratch - this took about three hours.
I plan to run one or more parties later in August, and would like to do these using the customization tool. So I would appreciate it if you would email to me the instructions for how to use the customization tool at your convenience.
Thank you, Marybeth

The treasure hunt was a success.Had 6 teams with 6 on each team. The only problem i had was when I blew the whistle to start the race. One team was much closer to their starting point and did their challenges before the the other teams got to their stations. This was on a farm and and the lead team was always waiting at the next station.
Everyone enjoyed it. We were all dressed in pirate costumes.

Hey Nikki,
I really want to Thank You for your support during my planning stages of the treasure hunt for The Quickel's 4oth Anniversary Party!
I am confident this party will be fondly reminisced time and time again, through the years, by the anniversary couple and their guests!! It was a huge success!
The tropical island theme worked really well. The island names were decided upon via 6 fond memories that Mike and Judy carry with them after 40 years of marriage. It really personalized the game! At each island station the teams found their challenge in a bottle (with sand and seashells) to replicate a "message in a bottle"!
One example...because a favorite memory involved being at the helm of a boat...the name of the island was Captain's Island. The challenge was to build a boat from trash that I left there for them (milk cartons, straws, water bottles, styrofaom plates, glue gun scissors etc.) and we later floated them in the Quickel's garden pond. It was GREAT FUN for all!
I am sending over a few pictures. Hoping you will enjoy them! Let me know if you have any trouble getting them to come up.
Thank you again,
Robin Scharding
PS. Along with great gifts for the winning team...I had a bunch of "fish squirts" in the chest...enough for everyone! I made sure there was a big tub of water sitting nearby. Everyone caught on quickly, filling their fish an squirting each other! It was a great way to end a hunt that was done on an especially hot summer day! (And 97% of those who played were adults!)
RLS0124@aol.com
We had (2) parties with different groups of kids, one baseball and one basketball. I will email you a couple of pictures when I get them back. thanks for the followup...even the other mothers think I am great...little do they know!

We did the treasure hunt at our picnic on Sunday and it was a hit. I learned a lot, particularly about being rushed into setting it up. The president of our organization didn't realize that time was needed to set things in place and she rushed me right from our kids games to the treasure hunt (no one's fault, she just didn't know). Next time we'll know to let the kids do the pinata while I'm setting everything up for the treasure hunt. But all in all, everyone had a good time and they were challenged by the clues. One dad was so proud of his 9 year-old son, who figured out the five to eight puzzle while the adults were still working on it. I will definitely be thinking of clues and prizes for the treasure throughout the whole year, just to make it better next time. Thank you.

Hi Nikki,
Thanks for a great Treasure Hunt Party Plan.
I am planning on using the plan this Friday for a Kids Club which takes place at my church (our kids club takes place every fortnight for 2 hours with children 6-12 years of age)
I am adapting the treasure hunt plan to a Spy theme. Children will come dressed as spy's/secret agents and for the first part of the night they will then be initiated into the spy school eg make up id badges, be given their Spy kits etc.
We will then move into the treasure hunt game. The children will be shown a locked chest/suitcase which has "important top secret items" in it. Their mission will be to find the key to open the case by completing the tasks (and getting their clues) at the 6 different stations. Our adventure will take place all over the world; it will be a world wide mission!
First team to find the key and open the case wins.
I have found your structure great- it allows me to use my own themes while giving me a plan to work within. It has cut down the planning time.
Thanks
Tamara
